FAQs for Apprentices

An apprenticeship is a job with a mix of hands-on experience and on-the-job training whilst you work.

You get a salary, contract, holiday entitlement, and are treated just like all other employees.

You work towards a nationally recognised qualification, whilst also receiving hands-on experience and professional training from experts within your chosen industry.

No, there are no costs for you to start an apprenticeship. Not only are there no costs to gaining a qualification, but you will also be paid by your employer 

At Apprentify, our apprenticeships last anywhere between 12 to 15 months.

To become an apprentice, you need to be aged 16-64 years old and have left full-time education.

Training is now entirely completed online using a mix of software such as Adobe Connect, Zoom and Microsoft teams. The same goes for your coaching calls too.

How much you will get paid heavily depends on your employer. The apprentice minimum wage is currently £4.30 an hour. However, at Apprentify, we take it upon ourselves to only work with employers who pay £12,000 annually or more.

An apprentice has to work between 30 – 40 hours per week. Generally, you will work 37.5 hours, 9-5 but this can fluctuate.

Yes, as long as your degree is not in direct conflict with the apprenticeship. For example, if you have completed a degree in Digital Marketing, you cannot then complete an apprenticeship in Digital Marketing.

Yes you do, however, it will differ from employers. You will receive a minimum of 20 days of paid holiday per year, plus bank holidays.

Once you have completed your apprenticeship, there are a few opportunities available to you, such as:

• Your employer may offer you a full-time position

• Your employer may want you to progress onto further training

• You may want to move onto another employer, taking with you all your qualifications, knowledge, and up to 15 months of industry experience.

Apprenticeships are just one route of many, and they certainly are not for everyone. There are multiple options available to you such as:

• University

• Full-time work

• Traineeships

• College

If you are having personal problems, we would recommend you go to one of the following people:

As part of your apprenticeship, English and maths will underpin your learning and development. In order to make sure that you are working at the highest level and getting the most out of your course with Apprentify, we ask all learners to sit their assessments in both English and maths in order to make sure that all apprentices are consistently at Level 2, which is the required level for your course. Although we appreciate that you may have previous qualifications, the BKSB assessments ensure that gaps in learning or required revision can be addressed alongside your Development Coach, and that you can continue to thrive in your holistic approach to learning.

Your coach will go through the apprenticeship in detail, show you our systems and answer any questions you may have. It would be great if you have your National Insurance Number to hand.

If you don't have your GCSE certs then you still do have a few options to provide evidence of your results;

1. Ask your training provider to check the Learner Records Service (LRS) as they may be logged here.

2. If they are not logged onto LRS you can reach out to the awarding body to gain a reprint. This is usually at a cost of around £50 per certificate. You will only require Maths and English for a level 3 or 4 apprenticeship.
