Telecoms Field Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship
The occupation of UK Telecom Technician is centered within the UK telecom sector, where professionals are tasked with building, providing, and repairing telecom services for commercial and residential customers. Working extensively on copper and fibre connections, they facilitate the delivery of telephone, internet, data, and TV services to households and businesses, including the integration of 4G and 5G services.
Interacting with various stakeholders, UK Telecom Technicians engage with communication providers and end customers such as Sky, Talk-Talk, BT, and PlusNet. Much of their time is spent outdoors, working in diverse environments ranging from telephone exchanges to residential and business properties, often facing challenging weather conditions. Their responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, upgrading, protecting, and installing telecom services on the National Telecom Access Network, under supervision and sometimes independently or as part of a team.
With their work allocated daily through electronic devices, UK Telecom Technicians are part of a nationwide network of over 20,000 operatives. Their output and quality of work are regularly audited, although they do not hold management responsibilities. In this dynamic field, they play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of telecom services across the UK.
