Strengthening the Digital Workforce

In the fast-paced world of modern business, cultivating emerging talent and sparking creativity are essential for staying ahead in the digital realm and achieving long-term success.

Jet2 stands out as a company that has embraced this approach by investing in apprenticeships to enhance their digital expertise and infuse new ideas into their workforce. By partnering with Apprentify, Jet2 is committed to developing dynamic apprenticeship programmes that not only support their growth but also drive innovation and strengthen their position in the digital landscape.

How Apprentify Revolutionised Workforce Development at Jet2

By understanding Jet2’s specific needs, building a bespoke curriculum, and proving ongoing support, Apprentify successfully empowered Jet2 employees to thrive in their roles and contribute to the company’s growth.

Identifying Jet2’s Needs
Identifying Jet2’s Needs

At the outset, we conducted in-depth consultations with Jet2 to gain a comprehensive understanding of their unique requirements. By delving into their objectives, skills gaps, and industry demands, we were able to identify specific areas where our apprenticeship programs could make a substantial impact.

Building a Bespoke Curriculum

Drawing upon our extensive expertise in apprenticeship training, we collaborated closely with the Jet2 to design a customised curriculum tailored to their business needs. This curriculum ensured that the apprentices received targeted training, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience directly relevant to their roles within Jet2.

Katie Rankin

Emerging Talent and Careers Manager

I'm Katie Rankin, the Emerging Talent and Careers Manager at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays. I've been with Jet2 for nearly five years, and in that time, we've expanded our apprenticeship programmes to include over 150 apprentices across 40 different standards. We're passionate about investing in our colleagues, whether through direct entry apprentices or by using apprenticeships to develop existing staff with technical or management qualifications to help them advance in their careers.

Apprenticeships are an excellent way to grow and develop talent within the organisation, embedding our ways of working while bringing in up-to-date knowledge and skills.

What I really appreciate about Apprentify's apprenticeship model is the flexibility it offers. Apprentices can complete core learning, with specialisation where needed, and Apprentify provides support for those with different requirements. There are also opportunities for additional learning, allowing apprentices to explore new areas that will benefit their future careers.

We're incredibly proud of our apprentices and the investment we make in them. It's rewarding to see them grow through their qualifications and beyond, and we're particularly proud that 100% of our direct-entry apprentices have secured permanent roles within the organisation.

Apprentify has been a great fit for us, offering a strong apprenticeship programme with the added benefit of additional learning. This approach really stretches and challenges our apprentices, particularly in departments like marketing. It helps them gain a broader understanding of the wider marketing function, even if they work in a specific area, setting them up for successful careers. I'd highly recommend Apprentify as a training provider across marketing and beyond, as we've worked closely with them to tailor standards across various business areas to support and develop our talent.

Chloe

Marketing Executive Apprentice

Hi, I'm Chloe. I'm doing a Marketing Executive apprenticeship at Jet2, working in the Customer Experience and Branding team, which means I handle everything you see in the airport, overseas, and on the aircraft. It’s been great so far—everyone in my team is so lovely, and there’s a strong collaborative atmosphere at Jet2. You never feel silly asking questions or approaching someone, no matter how high up they are.

The apprenticeship has impacted me both personally and professionally. Personally, my confidence has grown significantly, especially in speaking to larger groups and managing tasks independently. Professionally, this experience has been a huge leap for me, having never worked in an office before—my previous jobs were in cafes.

I really enjoy the mix of e-learning and online courses. It's nice to apply what I learn directly to my role. For example, we recently did a content task, which isn’t something I usually do in my team. I had to speak to different stakeholders and write a blog post for Jet2, which helped me understand more about marketing and the industry itself—something I wouldn’t have gained from just a graduate job.

For my apprenticeship, I had to complete functional skills, and Apprentify was really supportive. I had monthly meetings with my tutor, who was always available to help, and my job was very accommodating. I’d recommend an apprenticeship to anyone, even if you don’t have the original GCSE scores or functional skills—don’t let that stop you.

For anyone leaving school now, I’d suggest going straight into an apprenticeship in a field that interests you. I wish I could go back and choose an apprenticeship over a degree. You get paid to learn, and it’s hands-on and practical. At the end of the day, it’s the same qualification, but with real-world experience.

Eva Cadet

PR and Comms Apprentice

I'm Eva, and I am a Level 4 Public Relations and Communications apprentice at Jet2. This is my second apprenticeship—I've already completed my Level 3 in Marketing, and now I'm progressing my career at Jet2, specifically in Public Relations. When I started at Jet2 and began this new apprenticeship, I was a bit apprehensive due to some negative work experiences in the past.

I never imagined that you could actually love your job and enjoy coming to work every day. One of the best aspects of apprenticeships is the development of practical skills, especially in PR. Through my apprenticeship workshops and modules, I’ve gained valuable experience in media pitching and writing press releases—skills that are absolutely core to my role. These are incredible opportunities to learn on the job and will be vital as I move forward in my career.

Apprentify has really pushed me to go beyond my usual day-to-day responsibilities and gain experience across the company. They’ve been instrumental in keeping me on track with both my apprenticeship and career goals. For example, I had the opportunity to take an additional module in videography, which I eagerly embraced. It has broadened my skill set and keeps my future options open by giving me additional experience.

The relationship between Apprentify and Jet2 is fantastic—all conversations are open, allowing the course to be tailored to my specific job role. Apprentify is a supportive training provider for anyone looking to develop their career.

So far, my favourite part of the apprenticeship has been working on amazing campaigns. I particularly remember going to London Stansted Airport to greet the Love Islanders as part of our Love Island campaign. It was surreal to see how my work paid off and getting to meet some well-known TV personalities was a very cool experience.

Jordan Cockroft

Level 3 Content Creator

I'm Jordan, a Learning and Development Coordinator at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays. I'm currently completing a Level 3 Content Creator apprenticeship, which has been tailored to align more closely with my role in Learning and Development. The apprenticeship tasks have been adapted to suit the specific requirements of my position, ensuring it's not a one-size-fits-all approach.

This flexibility has allowed me to gain the development opportunities I need. One of the most valuable experiences I've had is learning how to make our content more accessible and inclusive for colleagues. This has become a key focus in my content design, thanks to the insights I've gained during the apprenticeship.

The support throughout the apprenticeship has been excellent. There are trainers who lead your learning sessions, and you also have a development coach to guide you through the process, including your end-point assessments. You meet with your coach regularly—every month or six weeks—to discuss your progress and development. My coach has provided a lot of support, understanding my goals and helping me develop in a new direction.

For me, this apprenticeship is enabling growth in areas I hadn’t thought possible before. If you're passionate about a specific area of development or aiming for a role that might have seemed out of reach, I’d say go for it.

It's important for people to realise that there are options available. I'm really proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and taking charge of my own development. I've learned so much in the past 11 months, and I'm excited to see where this journey will lead me.
