Overview

Apprentify are hiring on behalf of B&Q for enthusiastic, confident and personable individuals to join their team as a Showroom Advisor and enrol on our bespoke level 4 Sales Showroom apprenticeship programme.

 

Sales matter in this role, but your real focus will be the customer. You’ll ask questions and explore possibilities to recommend the right finance, products and installation options. You’ll use software to produce inspirational designs that will bring customer projects to life. Coordinating multiple projects & supporting customers virtually and face-to-face, you’ll take customers on a journey from inspirational ideas through to delivery, helping to make their dreams a reality.​

Daily roles and responsibilities will include;

CUSTOMER:

  • Actively approach your customers, engaging with them naturally
  • Understand customer needs, provide appropriate solutions and build lasting relationships with both retail and trade customers
  • Actively promote company services such as finance, trade and installations to fulfil the customer project needs
  • Create accurate designs that delight customers and turn enquiries into sales
  • Turn negative customer situations into positive outcomes, finding solutions for enquiries and aftersales resolutions
  • Ensure all types of customer communications are dealt with professionally
  • Encourage customer feedback, share it with Managers and use it to improve service

INSTALLATIONS:

  • Sign up company installers and support them to give the best service to customers
  • Using company systems to process the customers’ project from end to end for both supply and installation-based customers
  • Support Showrooms Manager and Project Coordinator to deliver all aspects of the installations service

SYSTEMS & PROCEDURES:

  • Utilise all available tools, reports and systems throughout the customer journey to maximise sales
  • Ensure display area and Showroom environment meets operational standards and delivers a great customer experience
  • Work with colleagues across the store to help and support them including sharing knowledge in your area of expertise to help drive sales
  • Adhere to the policies, processes, and regulations relevant to your role and store, ensuring these are implemented consistently
  • Take personal responsibility for operating in a safe and legally compliant way
  • You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as reasonably required

Entry requirements

You’re great at using technology but, more importantly, you’ll have brilliant communication and relationship-building skills as you’ll work closely with colleagues & installers to ensure B&Q deliver the best service on every project. You’re motivated by targets and are confident in converting your designs into sales. You work well as part of a team and you’re a good problem-solver too, with a keen eye for design. You’re also flexible enough to work on a rota that includes weekends, evenings and bank holidays.​

Training to be provided

As a Showroom Advisor, you will be working towards the Level 4 Sales Showroom qualification provided by Apprentify, alongside your daily roles and responsibilities. Your apprenticeship will cover areas such as Sales Fundamentals, The Sales Lifecycle, Negotiation Skills and Closing a Sale, and will be delivered through;

  • A mixture of face-to-face and virtual training sessions with your industry specialist learning coach every 4-6 weeks
  • A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
  • Progress reviews to discuss development of KSBs

As an apprentice, you study while you work; a minimum of 6 hours per week of your time at work (if full-time) will be dedicated to your apprenticeship. Upon completion of the programme, you will achieve a Level 4 Sales Executive apprenticeship standard, which meets the eligibility requirements for Sales Certification at Level 4 with the Institute of Sales Professionals (ISP).

Future Prospects

Ongoing training and development. The expected duration of this apprenticeship is 15 months, however you will join the B&Q family on a permanent contract.
